Google Gemini
Google Gemini is Google's family of multimodal large language models (LLMs) that power AI features across Google's product ecosystem, including Search, Google Ads, Workspace, and Cloud. Originally launched as Bard and rebranded to Gemini in February 2024, the model family spans versions from the lightweight Gemini Nano (on-device) to the most capable Gemini Ultra and Gemini Pro. Gemini is natively multimodal — it can process and generate text, images, audio, video, and code — distinguishing it from text-only predecessors. In digital advertising, Gemini underpins Google's AI-driven campaign features: it powers the natural-language understanding behind broad-match keyword matching, generates responsive search ad creative, optimizes Performance Max asset combinations, and produces AI Overviews in search results. Gemini also integrates with Google Workspace applications, enabling marketers to use it directly within Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides for drafting, analysis, and summarization. For PPC and SEO practitioners, Gemini is not just a consumer-facing chatbot — it is the computational engine that increasingly mediates how ads are served, how content is ranked, and how users interact with search results, making an operational understanding of its capabilities essential.
