AI-Generated Content
AI-Generated Content is text, images, video, or other media created by artificial intelligence tools — including large language models and generative AI platforms — rather than solely by human authors. In digital marketing, AI-generated content is used across the content supply chain: drafting blog posts and landing pages, generating ad copy variants, producing product descriptions at scale, and creating social media assets. The widespread availability of large language models made AI content generation accessible to non-technical marketers, accelerating adoption across agencies, in-house teams, and content platforms. Google's stated position is that AI-generated content is not inherently penalized — its Search guidelines evaluate content quality and helpfulness regardless of production method. However, content created primarily to manipulate search rankings, whether human-written or AI-generated, violates Google's spam policies and is subject to algorithmic demotion. The practical distinction for marketers is between AI-assisted content (human-edited, value-added, fact-checked) and fully automated AI content published without human review — the former can enhance productivity and scale, while the latter risks quality degradation and ranking penalties.
